Utopia is a collage with printed photos, ink and intricate gouache painting. Bruce Thorn completed this work in 2021 during the Covid pandemic and lockdowns. The main focus of the collage is a young cowgirl drawing her two guns on a clown as a menacing fish skeleton swims behind her back. In the top left, an image from Goya's Disasters of War displays a prisoner having his manhood removed by sword. It measures 14 x 10", on heavy weight, extremely feathered handmade Twinrocker paper. Intricate ink and gouache painting extends all the way up to the irregular edges. This work was produced under a magnifier lamp.
